The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ focuses a lot on youth but this summer we wanted to support everyone in a safe and fun return to play! All summer long we hosted two evenings of adult basketball “open runs” at The Nash Family Court.
Tuesday nights featured Queer Van Hoops (QVH) followed by Strathcona Women’s Basketball League (SWBL) which included a mix of 3v3 and 5v5. On Wednesday evenings, All My Relations (AMR) which is an indigenous women’s basketball team held team practices and scrimmages.
Learn more about these leagues here:
QVH “is a queer positive basketball league whose essence is to allow members an allies of the queer community to enjoy the game of basketball in a positive, safe and welcoming space.”
SWBL “strives to sustain, promote and develop a league that supports the changing social and recreation needs and aspirations of the Strathcona Community.”
AMR “consists of Aboriginal women from various nations and backgrounds ranging in age from 17-40 years. Many of us are single mothers, post-secondary students and all committed advocates for sports and healthy living.”
