Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ is a community first organization. At times like this, our values are no different. We remain committed to this city and committed to empowering our youth, participants, and community.
As the Global Health, situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continues to evolve, The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ has postponed the start dates of all SP20 Programming and Community Events indefinitely to ensure the health and safety of our youth, athletes, volunteers and community. Any athletes, families wishing to receive a refund will be able to do by contacting team@vancouverbasketball.org. Our team is closely following all information that is released through the health advisories from global, national, and local Health Organizations. As this situation continues to evolve, The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ will also evolve and will be launching a series of digital led experiences and community conversations through our social media channels. Be sure to watch the @VancouverBasketballFoundation social channels for the FREE release of these impact programs to the community in the coming days and weeks.
While, not Global Health experts, our channels also remain open to helping young athletes, parents, coaches, and community volunteers find the appropriate information and best practices as it relates to child-care, spring break program cancellations, community centre closures and school closures in this difficult time.
Finally, after the address from the Prime Minister yesterday, we echo our National Leadership messages to stay at home (and come home) as a precaution essential to help delay and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It is important, now more than ever, that we all do our part now to slow the spread of the virus in our cities and into the homes of our loved ones.
We know these are uncertain and difficult times. As Trudeau said, “They are exceptional circumstances calling for exceptional measures.” While we can’t open up our doors we want to open up our communication channels to support our community. Please reach out if you have questions or want to talk and let us know how we can support you and your families. We will get through these trying times together with the strength of love and this amazing community.
Stay safe and be kind to each other.
