January 11, 2023 - The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ was thrilled to host Cub Day, the kicked off event to the 48th Annual Britannia Bruins Invitational. Eight six Youth from six local East Vancouver Elementary Schools came together for a full day of basketball, community building and a 3v3 tournament! The day started with a basketball skills session focussing on the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting, progressing to small-sided games working on turning a small offensive advantage into a scoring opportunity. Next up was a pizza Lunch and Learn where students got the chance to sit down with members of the Girls and Boys Britannia Basketball Team to learn about what it means to be a Bruin. The final segment in the afternoon was a 3v3 Basketball Tournament. Students were placed on teams with a mix of the Elementary schools so they had to go outside of their comfort zone to get to know one another and learn how to work together as a team. We were blown away by the hard work, passion and positive energy and we loved seeing new friendships starting.

To all of the young athletes that participated, WOW - y’all filled the gym with incredible energy all day long!
